Waroyiji - Evildoers

Ubantu, and especially the Empire, is rigid and brutally oppressive on a social level. There is no concept whatsoever of personal justice and liberty. All of this is enforced by the Ancestors, who turn the laws and taboos into very real, immediate punishments. This results, of course, in a number of rebels. That these rebels are actually very often misanthropic and even dangerous is merely part of the viscious cycle.
There are many traditional archetypes of evildoer. The most hated, the one that brought down Siyathemba and founded the Empire of the Elephant, is the Mchawi. Mchawi are human psychics born with a complex Compartmentalized Mind and/or Multiple Personality Disorder. They are *very* hard to detect, to the extent that sometimes the "witch soul" can jump into another person's body.
The day and night Waroyiji are corrupt Fetish Sorcerers and Oracles. Day Waroyiji are the oracles, usually women, whose Msomolezi has been replaced by a Ngozi or Shave spirit. Not only that, but instead of fighting it, they have learned to channel it and work with it. Night Waroyiji are the corrupted Mganga, usually men, who use secular magic to work with dark spirits, and to poison and infect others. Both kinds often have familiars, which my be hyenas, owls, snakes, aardvarks or crocodiles.
There are two notorious books of dark lore, the Salt-Iron Grimoire (Msafu ya Chumvichuma) [Blood, Salt and Iron Grimoire] and the Book of Screaming Ancestors (Msafu wa Uinyedeji Wazimu). The Book of Screaming Ancestors can be used by Waroyiji wa Ulozi, evil book sorcerors. It counts as a all-college book, but is written partially in Kizimu, the language of the spirits.
The Salt-Iron Grimoire is a tome of Necromany, detailing the spells and rituals of Unga, namely, raising the dead.
Many Waroyiji are just Wagosa, theives and criminals. Due to the nature of Ukokan society, these basically have to have some supernatural protection to exist.

Types of Spirits:

In general, there are human spirits (Mizimu), nonhuman spirits (Miziku), and elemental spirits (Misambwa and Pepo).  The Mizimu are the ancestors, which include the Msomolezi spirits that guard individuals. When a human spirit is angry or mad, it becomes an Ngozi. Ngozi have to be appeased or banished, but the are still ancestors.
Miziku were never humans. They are strangers, aliens, object and animal spirits. When they bedevil humans, as the often do, they are called Mashave.
Misambwa can be any type of elemental. The chief of the elemental spirits in an area is called a Mhondoro, and these usually have shrines. Elemental spirits that have human-like personas are call Pepo (1/2). Njuzu are a specially class of Pepo, essentially mermaids living in the Nyasa Sea

Waroyiji Wamasikati - Day Witches

Day Witches are usually women who have come under the influence of an Ngozi or Shave spirit. Their own Msomolezi has been defeated and vanished, and they are actively cooperating with their new patron. They are often anti-social in some way, or even depressed. They can go out of body, to watch and hex others, and summon mounts and familiars. Waroyiji wamasikati are know for *riding* these animals, especially hyenas. They commonly disinter bodies and eat the rotting flesh, which turns the Mzimu of that body into an Ngozi, which they can control. Such Ngozi particularly hate their families, for letting their bodies be disturbed.

Waroyiji Wedzinza - Night Witches

Night Witches are usually men, Fetish Sorcerers turned to evil. They have fetishes to control Mashave and Ngozi, and may have one for a guardian. There are two particular afflictions:  chitsinga (arthritis) and chipotswa (neuralgia), which they can cause that are very hard to cure. They are more likely to have familiar that do their bidding, causing harm and spreading poisons, than mounts.
